Ken Shaw, Anchor, CTV News Toronto
Ken Shaw brings not only a wealth of journalistic experience to his role at CTV News Toronto, but also an exceptional record of community service. Since April, 2001, he has been the Co-Anchor of Toronto’s #1 newscast – CTV NEWS AT NOON and SIX. Shaw was named Best Local News Anchor at the Canadian Screen Awards in 2014.
Shaw joined CTV Toronto as a reporter in 1979, while at the same time reporting on major Canadian news stories for American network news programs including ABC's GOOD MORNING AMERICA, NIGHTLIKE, and NBC’s THE TODAY SHOW. He started anchoring the 11:30 p.m. newscast at CTV in 1981, and was named the National Editor in 1998. From 1999 to 2001, Ken Shaw became familiar to viewers across Canada as the Weekday Anchor for CTV News Channel.
The seeds of broadcasting were planted in 1972, when Shaw became a technical trainee for Baton Broadcasting, which today is known as CTV News. From these humble beginnings, he became a co-writer and actor for a sitcom SHH! IT’S THE NEWS.
Off-air, Shaw devotes a great deal of time and energy to various local charities and community events. He is a director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada and ProAction Cops & Kids. Shaw is also the past director of The Duke of Edinburgh Awards and The Hinks Dellcrest Centre. In 2010, he received the Order of Ontario for his track record of excellence in volunteer service in the Greater Toronto Area he serves.
Over the past few years, Shaw has been the chair of the Abilities Centre, as it worked to build the 125,000 thousand square foot "Centre of Excellence" in Whitby, to assist people of all ages with special needs. The Centre opened officially in May, 2012.
An avid golfer, Shaw and his wife Nancy host an annual golf tournament “The Nancy and Ken Shaw Charity Golf Tournament”, raising funds for Providence Healthcare. Shaw received the 2010 Legends Recognition Award in the City of Oshawa, an award given for outstanding positive impacts on the Oshawa community.
On June 8, 2012 Shaw received an honourary Doctor of Laws from University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
Rosey Edeh, Anchor/Co-Host, The Morning Show & News at Noon
A veteran journalist and three-time Olympian, Rosey Edeh is a
dynamic television personality whose career has taken her all
over the world. Edeh brings energy and experience with her as
co-host of The Morning Show and anchor of the News at Noon.
At Global, Edeh has interviewed a number of prominent guests including Denzel Washington, Daniel Radcliffe, Terry Crews, Chris Hadfield, and cast members of Orange is the New Black. Recent Toronto International Film Festival highlights also include interviewing Ryan Reynolds, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kiera Knightly, Jennifer Garner, and Al Pacino.
Born in London, England and raised in Montreal, Edeh began her career as a sports reporter with CFCF News Montreal before becoming a weather and entertainment reporter with Global Montreal. In 2001, Edeh moved to the United States to work with CNN's American Morning, and later worked with MSNBC's Early Today morning program.
As a senior reporter for Global's entertainment program ET Canada, Edeh spent seven years covering celebrities around the world. In 2010, Edeh was invited to sit next to Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the opening ceremonies of the World Junior Track Championships in New Brunswick.
Edeh is also a world-class athlete, and was a four-time All American champion. She represented Canada in the summer Olympics three times in 1988, 1992, and 1996, and also won medals in the Commonwealth Games and the World University Games. Edeh is the current Canadian record holder in 400m hurdles.
Edeh graduated from Rice University in Texas and Concordia University, where she received her Master's degree in art history. She's also a volunteer track coach and is an ambassador of Plan Canada's Because I am a Girl campaign. Edeh enjoys reading, photography and visiting art museums.
